Adam Gorney of Rivals.com reports that sources say UF quarterback coach Scot Loeffler spent a day at Detroit, Inskter High. That's where the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback, Devin Gardner plays.

Gardner is committed to Michigan and at 6-4, 195 pounds.

He passed for 1,886 yards with 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions as a junior. He added 1,401 and 22 touchdowns on the ground.

This would be huge. I think Gardner would be a stud for us.

Hopefully the emergence of Forcier will cause Gardner to have second thoughts. Having watched Burton on TV, I tend to agree with newcastle in that we at least need to sign one more QB.

Agree with most of the snetiments on here. Burton is a great runner, but his passing skills might be the worst of any incoming QB we have ever had.

For those who think that is ridiculous, ask anyone who has watched him in person. he leaves alot to be desired.

I listened to Inkster at Steubenville Ohio tonite, what a game! Inkster took the kickoff to the house, 6-0 start. 15-12 Stu at the half. Steubenville QB Dwight Macon missed the 3rd w/ injury, but talked the coach into letting him in to start the 4th. 28-21 Inkster with 3:00 in the game, Stu gets a safety, then a TD, 29-28. Gardner throws a 63 yd. TD w/ :39 left, Inkster wins 36-29. I've been a big Macon fan since he was a freshman. He verballed to Cent. Mich a couple weeks ago. He could fill Dan LeFevre's shoes. I know a Mich. fan who says Gardner will be a early enrollee at Mich.

If this kid comes, Trey Burton might as well go to South Florida.

My point about Burton is that I haven't been impressed with his arm. In terms of scrambling and running from the quarterback spot, he is very good - he looks to me to be much quicker than Tebow and much more agile.

But I want an arm back there . . .

I'd hate for Burton to not come to Florida, given he was an early commitment and has been talking to other players about coming to UF, also.

After Brantley leaves in two years, it's going to be interesting to see who we play at quarterback.

I think Burton will be a QB next year as I believe Jorden Reed will be a tight end in the spring as well as playing some QB. We could recruit 3 Qb's if we find more we like.

Think Haden and Arron H. will/might leave after the season. Think all the others stay.

This is a smart move by this kid. He can see these guys just a year ahead of him getting experience this season at Michigan. UF on the other hand only has two returning QBs on its roster.

I would say that Dunlap will be the most likely to leave. Haden will also more than likely leave. I wouls say Hernandez is 50/50. He is not a sure first rounder like the first two.

Gardner had better be considering who the Mich. coach will be next year or if he can beat out Forcier. He has a much better chance of beating out Burton and who know if theres a coaching change what the situation will be.

So I guess his recent game throwing for 250 and running for 130 with 3 TDs did nothing for you?
Most people forget this is only Burton's second year playing QB. He was a safety his frosh year, so he's still got a lot to learn and of course is quite raw. He's going to be a terror in our offense IMO.

I have actually watched him twice now and have completely change my mind on him. I watched him against Manatee and was more than impressed.

I recently post a lot on this kid and how impressed I was.

He is legit!

Burton will be a project for sure. He has a lot of the intangibles that Meyer likes (strong leader, clean kid, makes good decisions). We will learn just how good Loeffler is as a QB coach when we see Trey's evolution in his throwing motion (because Loeffler apparently cannot fix Tebow's). Burton is a nice fit for our offense and with good weapons around him, he could do great things -- given some time and some serious coaching. I think that we are just fine in that area and we will keep reloading the weapons around him.
