Rumors are that Rettig is having second thoughts about his BC commitment and has contacted staff to see what opportunities might be available. Interests appear to be mutual so keep an eye out for this name to pop up on the boards.

But, this does bring up a interesting point.
For our next quarterback recruit, are we going to bring in a pro-syle quarterback or dual-threat quarterback?
I don't see us bringing another QB in this year unless Scroggins has a change of heart (won't happen). I think our next QB recruit will be Christian LeMay who should be the staffs top priority for the 2011 class.
I must respectfully disagree with anyone that thinks we will not take another QB in this class. We would take the right kid. We have been all over Phillip Sims (Alabama commit) and he will be coming to the F$U game... This is a very weak QB class this year and to my knowledge, the only other QB we were serious over was Scroggins.
That being said, I know we are still looking. So don't write off Rettig.

EA brought up Devin Gardner in another thread. As the #1 rated dual threat QB in the country I would think he would be rated higher than any of the guys mentioned above and someone the coaches would definitely take. Does anyone know for sure if Gardner is seriously interested in us?

I don't even care how pathetic it sounds: I'd rather the Canez lose more games than see UF win another national title at this point. 2010 is coming no matter what so what does it even matter what happens in 2009 at this point?

On Gardner, we are trying to get him to come for the F$U game. If he does not come, we have ZERO chance with him. Loeffler went up there to whisper sweet nothings in his ear, so we will have to wait and see, but I am not holding my breath.
On Lemay, we have offered him for the 2011 class. His father (was team chaplain, I believe) had ties with the Gator staff before moving to NC, so there is some connection already. We are working hard on him and he is one of 3-4 QB's we have offered for 2011 (along with Bridgewater - who may be a WR when all is said and done, Justin Worley from SC, and Everett Gohlson from SC). Lemay is the kind of good character kid that Meyer covets, so we have a while to see, but things look good so far.

Watching the game between Sims' HS team and Burton's HS team, Sims was hands down better than Burton. Way more developed as a passer. Seemed like he'd be a really nice fit here - maybe not quite the runner Tebow is, but very mobile and elusive in the pocket with a great arm.
