I just think the SEC will have a down year compared to recent years. 6 teams have new QB's, Arkansas and Ole Miss have new coaches, Auburn is running a new offense...the only teams that return consistency are Georgia and Florida. The West is a toss up and the East will more than likely be between two teams. I see only three maybe four teams being ranked in the final poll, Georgia, Florida, whoever wins the West and maybe a dark horse. Defenses by and large will be decent, but too many variables to really say if this year will be like previous years. I have a feeling we’ll be hearing that the SEC was overhyped this year.

I don't know why people think LSU will be down this year. Sure they lost a lot, but they are also still loaded. They are stacked and in reload mode right now.

Because they will be breaking in a new QB with absolutely zero game experience, and their coach is believed by most to be a moron Their talent level should be enough to compensate for that...for the most part. They'll probably lose a couple |

Yeah they will probably lose a couple. Miles is a horrible coach and even lost a couple each year the last 2-3 years even with a LOADED roster. They will still have a very tough D but im not sure their O will do anything. Gatorev12: "The Big Eleven is kinda like you're older cousin who was the **** in hs, but never amounted to anything and is working at a grocery store and trying to "stay with it." Relevant at one point in his life, but now is past it, knows it, and desperately tries to either prop himself up or amount to something. For another suitable analogy, think of the uncle from Napoleon Dynamite" |

This is the way I see it,
WEST Auburn 9-3 Alabama 6-6 Miss State 7-5 Ole Miss 7-5 LSU 7-5 Ark 4-8 EAST Ga 8-4 Fla 9-3 Tenn 7-5 Vandy 5-7 Kentucky 5-7 USC 8-4 I am assuming all teams play twelve games...+/- a game(W/L) I feel this is the way the SEC will pan out this year. |

No offense, but you're out of your mind! You're not giving the SEC any love! |

I think we'll see 2, maybe even 3, ten win teams in the SEC this year. But, to the question, I think it is tough to say this year because Arky and Kentucky will not be as good as last year, but I think UGA, UF, UT, and SC will be better. LSU and Auburn about the same -- LSU's QB will be fine, whoever it may be.

No way UF loses 3 this year. Two maybe, not three. Same with UGa, although I see Uga being a bit of a disappointment.
Georgia struggled with a lot of teams including Troy. Uga only had three games they looked good in last year: UF- injured QB and DT's along with 9 new starters on defense, Hawaii- way over-rated, Auburn- they were up and down (beat UF, lost to USF). They lost to a 6-6 USCe team that went 3-5 in the SEC and were absolutely destroyed by UT. They got too much cred for beating us and Auburn. When they crash, i want front row seats to the implosion. Back to my point, the only way UF loses 3 is if Tebow decides to do missionary work instead of playing football. |

LSU 7-5????? They could lose 3, but I seriously doubt anymore than that, new QB or not. They will simply reload and fill all of their other holes. Miles will make some idiotic decisions and will be bailed out by his players.

The way I see it, Florida lost four games last year when it was a rebuilding year...with a good coach. Hence 5 losses. Plus they play Appalachian State |

I think its fair to say that its a down year for the SEC. This year and last year, the gap between the SEC and the other conferences has been closed some. Its definitely not like it was in 06. Teams are younger and rebuilding so next year the gap might widen a lot, especially if Tebow and Harvin stick around.

Who are the three teams UF loses to? You say it's a down year for the SEC and then predict we'll lose three games to "down" teams, which makes no sense. ___________________

I see the east winner being UF and west as AU. Neither will have more than 2 losses coming into the championship game.

If our defense plays lights out we go undefeated, if they play like last year I say we lose two maybe three. But in general, I still feel the SEC will take a step back this year but will be a force in 2009. |

We won't lose 3 unless we are decimated by injuries. |

What does Appy State being on LSU's schedule have to do with their losses? LSU wins that one by at least 20. SEC night game in the balmy southern heat. The SEC powerhouses do not lose games like that.
Now, I don't think the league is down. There are three teams that would beat last year's national champ if they were able to go back in time: UF (almost did it last year), UGA (may have been able to do it last year), and Auburn (also almost did it least year). That tells me the league is heading up, not down. |

I'm not sure I really follow that logic. LSU is in a completely different situation than UF was last year. They lost some players in the secondary but everybody stepping into the starting role for the first time played a lot last year. Meyer was relying on freshmen last year. Their defensive line will still be strong and fast as well. Offensively, the only hole is quarterback. They are stacked everywhere else. The new QB will have solid pass protection, a running game, and receivers who will get open quickly. That's a pretty good way to get your feet wet. And lightning will not strike twice for App State. |
