for UM's $30K fine. The commissioner set the expectation that coaches shouldn't criticize the officials, and Meyer did just that. Regardless of how his comments compare to others, Meyer criticized and put himself into a position to be fined or suspended. Lane may deserve some fine or punishment somewhere along the way, but he shouldn't be blamed for UM's fine.

I blame him for the whole sorry mess. When you get one jackass everybody pays. Sorry.

No, Kiffin didn't make him do it. |

Without kitten's remarks, the rule doesn't exist. $30k isn't going to hurt Meyer, but we are going to take it out of UT's hide in 2010.
"He asked me 'Did I hold onto the ball?'" Meyer said. "I told him he did and he winked at me and said 'It's great to be a Gator." |

The rule already existed. Kiffin may have been the one to push Slive to this point, but UM is a grown man and was responsible for his own actions. |

No Kiffy did not make him say it. But HE brought this to a VOLatile point that Slive had to do something. UM used it to his advantage to put it to another level. So with that lets see if Kiffen has the kahunas to keep running his YAP! UM knows what he is doing. But in hindsight there has been criticism every year. But who seems to be running that yap to get responses out ot others. Kiffn! Period.

Mark Richt now needs to be a man and step up to the plate and belly-up his 30 g's
Winning at Doak used to be like trying to have sex with a virgin. If you were lucky, you might have gotten a sniff. Doak Campbell stadium is now a filthy, disease-infested prostitute, teeming with the stench of other team's victories. |

I feel like this whole football season has been like my middle school classes. Lamo has done what he wanted to do, get everybody fired up.

The officiating issue was already in the news a week before Kiffin commented on it. If anything, Kiffin was piling on.
The LSU/UGA celebration penalties followed by the Arkansas/Florida game put this in the national spotlight. Mullin, Kiffin, and Bobby Johnson were all later. I don't think Kiffin is to blame, although I can agree that the new rule seemed to be targeted at him. I'm a ramblin' wreck from Georgia Tech.. |

This rule may have been in place, but it has been a non-issue until the crybabying of Kiffen started. Now, no coach in the SEC can comment on officiating when asked a question.
It's really ridiculous. I look for alot of "no comments" moving forward in press conferences. |

Not true, it was UGA/LSU and Petrino that made it an issue. I'm a ramblin' wreck from Georgia Tech.. |

Oh really? I guess Lame was'nt complaining about Terrance Cody from Bama taking his helmet off on that last kick. "I thought that should have been a unsportsmanlike penalty. Guess Bama and Floriday play on".

You are not correct it was Lamo getting his third reprimand and other coaches following his lead. I guess Georgia Tech does not have a message board? I can not figure out why fans from other teams creep over. |

It is plain and obvious. Several coaches have complained about officiating but Kiffy is the one that called out Slive/SEC and directed it straight at them. Also stating that schools get preferential treatment. So time to put up or shut up!

Please...this had NOTHING to do with Petrino or the UGA/LSU game. It had to do with putting a muzzle on Kiffen. Now, all coaches will get penalized because Kiffen is a brat. |

Tell it like it is Doc.
Living up here I have never heard so many people complain when the ole' Ball Coach was still at UF. Now they got one that is even worse and has no common sense. He will be the most obnoxious ever. Like Al Davis said, "this guys is an idiot." This will be called the Kiffen Rule and the Deion rule was for not skipping class. |

What puzzles me is that Lame Kitten gets 3 reprimands without teeth (maybe because he is the Vol coach?), while Meyer makes one minor comment that is technically in violation and gets hit with the big fine. If anyone should be fined, it should have been Lame Kitten after his second violation demonstrated his verbal diarrhea. **** "The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money" - Margaret Thatcher |

I like how people think Lame is going to shrink away from this. This guy is going to be the Ochocinco of the SEC. He's going to do whatever to thumb his nose at Slive, because he's trying to foster that renegade program cred. You don't shy away form ponying up 30k when LiL Wayne is calling you by name.
Kiffin is California. He's all about the self-promotion. Seriously, you don't think he'd take the hit right down to being suspended for a game?! That's what he wants! Lane Kiffin will readily get into a pissing contest with any SEC coach over who will get fined last! This guy is all about the mud and muck. It's hilarious because UT sold its soul. They've got Pearl and Kiffin, and in that sold their tradition for wins. That school SOLD OUT for wins. Kiffin will get them to the promise land, with the NCAA rule book lit on fire in his end trails. UT will be winners eventually, but sustainability will be as unattainable as you'd expect. Kiffin is the Bob Huggins of football! Lane Kiffin is not about the money. He's about the credibility. His football credibility has been severly compromised. This guy becomes a Terry Bowden if he doesnt succeed. He's taken the hit financially to bring in an All Star coaching staff. He's hitting the recruiting trail and willing to say whatever to whomever. This guy will burn his coaching salary like GM does tax dollars, if it means he regains some coaching credibility. He's hanging it all out there trying to resist the "punchline" status that's he's fallen into. When AL DAVIS thinks you suck...That has to be a dark and lonely place. It's a good thing that he's in a state where the "California media" doesn't quite reach! |

Well, that's the problem. Now NO coach can comment on a call because of Kiffen. I'm sure it's only going to be a matter of time before he gets in trouble again.

I couldn't agree more!! Kiffen and Pearl are self-promoting clowns that have NO respect from any coaching peers. Neither has accomplished anything in their short coaching careers at UT, other than making highlights for their ill-advised soundbites. |

...but isn't blaming Kiffin fun?

It's all about the conference keeping the image of the best conference in college football. It does not sit well when your officials make mistakes and they are highlighted in coach's post game pressers.
Kiffey isn't the cause...just a contributing factor that led to where we are at now. I do think that kiffey's contribution will lead to a serious beatdown next year in neyland.... __________________________ At least they were wearing their prison orange jumpsuits.... __________________________ |

For those comparing Kiffen to Spurrier you forgot something very important. Spurrier was a feared winner while Kiffen is a laughing stock of a joke. While Tennessee’s defense has improved thanks to the old man, don’t expect them to actually challenge Florida until they find another Tee Martin for QB. Spurrier backed up his noise with wins while Kiffen is all noise.

UT sold it's soul for football victories and UK sold theirs for basketball wins. I hope we learn from these idiots. Someday our football team will hit a dry spell too. I hope when that day comes we remember this and we won't make a deal with the devil. That UK banner Cal wins won't look near as good coming down as it will going up wil it bluebloods? |
