RE: Link
I've been one to think it would be better for Alabama to win but I'm thinking for Tebow's chances to repeat you don't want Ingram or his team to win the LSU game. Better have LSU stuff Alabama and Ingram. Right now Ingram has 4 1sts and Tebow 3 and that's without Ingram playing a week. Better to have LSU play them and win, stuffing Ingram. |

I think Tebow will win it as one of those "Lifetime accomplishment" awards where people give him the vote because there is no one else that has truely wowed everyone in CFB this year.
If Ingram ends up running for 250y/3tds vs LSU and Alabama ends up undefeated, then Ingram may take it away. But it would have to be an AWESOME game and his stats would have to really shine with some highlight runs for sure. |

I'm somewhat surprised at all the Ingram Love. He doesn't lead the conference in rushing and Tebow has as many rushing TDs as Ingram. The media is just looking to prop somebody else up. I love how some tried to make a case for slob Cody.

There's no way that Ingram gets 200+ on LSU. He'll be lucky to break 100 if LSU has any chance of winning. If we win out, Tebow will win the Heisman. He's going to get some more numbers over the next few weeks and a lot of national exposure. High Altitude Gators ![]() |

For Tebow to win the Heisman he just needs to play consistant like he did in the UGA game. I feel like it does not matter what anybody else does if he can have those 4 TD games with no turnovers he will blow everybody else out.

I'm of the opinion that the victor of an Alabama/Florida SECCG would have the edge. However it would be nice to gain some separation for Tebow while keeping Ingram around to suck up regional votes which could go to other contenders. Some voters do send their ballots before the SECCG so an Alabama loss now would mitigate chances of Ingram getting voted higher than Tebow even if Florida wins the SECCG.

Tebow has more star power outside the Southeast. Meanwhile, Bama's weakness has been exposed. Teams like LSU are going to stack the line and try not to let Ingram beat them.
Last year, Tebow got the most first place votes but lost in the midwestern states where he was left off the ballot entirely. Tebow has an excellent chance of winning it unless the only other candidate from the midwest, Colt McCoy, does something very special over the last month. All that said...WHO CARES when you're in the hunt for a Title. |

Man - for Tebow to win BOTH the Heisman AND the Bama/LSU game, he better have one hell of a game this weekend!

I think we care because that's a part of what is going on with all things UF this year and it's worth looking at. To win it Any year is something, but to be the first to repeat since Archie Griffin after being the first Sophmore to win it, that's quite an accomplishment. If that is to be done, it is to be done this year by Tebow. If you have the ability to take both, why take one and not the other? |

Tebow is on track to break all-time NCAA records such as Eric Crouch's all-time rushing TD mark of 59. As the team and individual records continue to fall Tebow will establish a lead for the Heisman vote that can't be overcome. This run of regular season games going into the SECCG are very important for our team and Tebow for filling in some stats.

I couldn't give a rat's ass about the heisman. I hope Timmy isn't even invited. Its a massive beauty pageant and an even bigger distraction.
Don't get me wrong - I loved it in '07 when thats all there was to win but now, I really just don't care. |

I would normally agree with this comment - the title is everything - but this kid is so special that I am as much interested in his getting the Heisman this year as our title hunt. I've seen 3-4 "off the field" stories just in the past couple of weeks (some through this site) that were things TT did without any fanfare, no press coverage, that really made me proud of him, and to be a Gator (did you hear about the kid on Friday in JAX? - LINK ). I travel throughout the Southeast, and when I talk to an "enemy" it is almost universal - "I can't stand the Gators....but I really like that Tim Tebow kid"...nearly every time. You can argue that "off the field" shouldn't be a factor for Heisman - but I don't think we really know ALL this kid has done for UF, the SEC, and college football. BTW - he should win it for on the field impact alone - regardless of stats, NOBODY impacts the outcome of a game this year more than TT. Now ask yourself (Yorkie, Orange Blood, etc.) - do you really think that Lane "poster child for character flaws" Kiffin could ever....EVER... get a Tim Tebow? Personally, I think it will be a 3-man race at most by the end of next week. Jimmy Clausen will lose @ Pitt and that will be the end of his Heisman campaign.
Obviously, if either Tebow/Ingram/McCoy loses, then that will be the end for them. Personally, I think Tebow's main competitor is Ingram b/c it will be hard for him to win if the Southeastern vote is split between him and Ingram. |

Does anyone know when the Heisman ballots have to be turned in? I know that they are sent out Nov. 18th, and the ceremony is Dec. 12th, but I can't find when they are due? Is it before or after the SECCG?

Ballots must be postmarked the Monday before the ceremony if I'm not mistaken. Whatever the exact date it is after the final week of play so all the conference championship games can be watched/included in the decision. However voters can (and a small number do) submit them at any point, so they aren't required to wait until after the SECCG to submit them.

I can appreciate that perspective, but like it or not, it's an essential part of this season and those of the future. As goes the Florida Gators - so goes Tim Tebow, Brandon Spikes and all the players who are up for individual awards. All of these things are tied together and the team, players and coaches know it. That's why we are #1 and will win the MNC again. We are truly committed to excellence and those awards and the titles recognize that the Gators and those players have achieved that this season. It also directly affects the future, the quality of the recruits we attract and how competitive our teams will be. High Altitude Gators ![]() |

but....a point of clarification if I may. Crouchs all-time is for QUARTERBACKS. The all-time - period - is 73, by the Miami of Ohio RB Travis Prentice. Crouch is actually 6th on the list, and as stated, the top QB on the list. Top 10: Travis Prentice, Miami of Ohio, 73 Ricky Williams, Texas, 72 Anthony Thompson, Indiana, 64 Cedric Benson, Texas, 64 Ron Dayne, Wisconsin, 63 Eric Crouch, Nebraska, 59 Marshall Faulk, San Diego St., 57 Steve Owens, Oklahoma, 56 Ken Simonton, Oregon St., 56 Tony Dorsett, Pitt, 55 ***** ![]() Gator message boards Legend for more than a decade!
