According to my calendar, FSU has their FINAL pleading before the NCAA Appeals Committee on Friday, the 13th. That is appropriate. After that, the bells will toll before December 31st.
FSU will have covered their transgressions, continued their lies and deceit, and duped the media long enough - it is judgement day. No more rumors about the NCAA is "fixed" and against FSU because of Bowden being so close to some nebulous record that is NOT even considered a record by the NCAA. No more hidden meetings with big buck boosters about when to dump Bobby. That time has come. Now, Bowden is telling people if he leaves, he will die and do you want to kill the beloved coach by making him leave in disgrace? All his 30 yaers of transgressions are coming to roost now - and the press should have a field day. I hope they do; the man is a hypocrite of thwe first water...all the face lifts won't help the faked smile. I - for one - have been waiting a long time for this judgement; I hope it is sweet. |

Hopefully will be resolved FINALLY! My question for the NCAA is how come Sou Cal gets a free pass in the Reggie Bush affair...There is no more flagrant case of bias in college football....one standard for USC..another for everyone else (especially the SEC)

I used to have this theory that the reason so many schools in the South were investigated by the NCAA and not the North is because the winters are more pleasant in the South.
Perhaps the NCAA doesn't like the smog in LA and that's why they don't invesigate USC. |

Ol Time Gator,
The reason the USC thing still lingers is due to the NCAA's lack of subpoena power. All the witnesses have clammed up but will be forced to testify in the civil trial against Bush brought by the so-called agent his family took the $400k from. My understanding is that the NCAA is waiting for this trial to end so they can use the depositions as evidence in the NCAA case. It sounds logical and realistic but given the NCAA's history with "sacred cow" programs, I too am skeptical. I guess we will have to wait and see. When you couple the Bush situation with the Tim Floyd paying the basketball player, O.J. Mayo, you have a textbook case of lack of institutional control which is supposed to result in the death penalty. This is where the NCAA's lack of credibility will come into play. The net results should be...... 1) Bush's Heisman goes to the guy that should have won it, Vince Young 2) The football team has to vacate all wins in 2005 3) The basketball team has to vacate all wins in 2008-09 4) The schools basketball program should get the death penalty. I do not anticipate any of these things happening. If it was an SEC school they would crucify them. |

This apparently has to do with the lack of power granted to the NCAA. Since Bush is no longer an NCAA athlete, the NCAA can't do anything to compel him or his family to come in for questioning. If he were still an NCAA athlete, they could suspend him until he cooperated. Gator Fan Deep in Enemy Territory. |

That's the reason why Bush and his legal team keep dealying the depositions of Bush and co. They know that the NCAA will get a hold of them. That civil suit will sit for another year or two and then settle and USC will get away with it.
