Man this guy has really let me down. I thought coming out of Florida would be playing better. He looked horible Sunday and hasn't really ever lived up to his hype. Another strikeout in the Jaguars drafting.

I read somewhere (sorry couldn't find where) that Del Rio said if his tackling does not improve he will lose his starting spot.

I'd trade Ken Hamlin to Jax in a heartbeat for Nelson. Tell Del Rio to give wade a call.

Reggie is one of my favorite Gators. I'm not sure why he is having such a lack luster NFL career.

The whole team has been a let down...Nelson hasn't been great, for sure, but not all his fault.

He was a great GATOR and got paid. As far as I'm concerned that is all that matters. The NFL is lame. Go Reggie. Get paid!

The Jax boys on the radio say that he was told at Florida to go find the ball and make a play. So when he got to the NFL he had no concept of playing within a system. He was always out of position. Plus he can't tackle. I guess when your job is to play centerfield in college, tackling is not a priority. It sounds like the Jags should have done some research before the draft.

I think Reggie is playing for a really bad team right now. He sure as heck is not playing up to his talent level. I think he wants out of Jax.

Until they can get an owner who has deep enough pockets to get rid of Del Rio who is really a mistake so far as coaching goes that he will continue to play as he is doing.

Jack should have taken this one more step: If Del Rio's coaching not improve, he will lose his job. Tongue

What does Del Rio's bad coaching have to do with Nelson making a tackle? Have any of you watched Reggie play lately? He plays with a skirt on. Get paid sure but this guy looks like he has never played before. Mike Smith may have simplified things for him in his rookie year but his reputation coming out of college was a head hunter with Ed Reed type skills. Regardless of who the coach is I am very surprised of how sissyfied he has become. Very unGatoresque. I think his long hair is costing him his manhood on the field. Hopefully he remembers how to play because this guy in college was a beast in the secondary.

Didn't they move Reggie from safety to corner due to an injury?

Winning at Doak used to be like trying to have sex with a virgin. If you were lucky, you might have gotten a sniff.

Doak Campbell stadium is now a filthy, disease-infested prostitute, teeming with the stench of other team's victories.

that is a truly idiotic statement. Yes Reggie isnt a good tackler but he is a TRUE FREE SAFETY. He excels in deep zone coverage and thats it, why do you think Charlie Strong played the entire 06' season in a cover 1 base D with Reggie deep? you obviously dont know football b/c ken hamlin cant cover worth a crap, hes a very mediocre safety.

i read where del rio said he playd terrible at corner and wont play cb again! WOW...Reggie is one of my fav Gators and i'm shocked he hasn't lived up to his 1st round hype. Is it me or Reggie has not been the same since he got hurt last yr vs the colts, remember that? RFN had a solid rookie yr but has declined since! Hope he gets his career together! Go Gators

I disagree, Reggie went for the hit more than the tackle.

I don't know. He missed both of the TD runs in the OSU game.

He's good for sure but he was stronger in coverage than against the run. He was the MAN at playing that DEEEEEEP CF and grabbing the deep ball.

Hard to know if the point of your post is to bash Reggie Nelson or females. Take a deep breath....

Agree. I love Reggie, but man, it's painful to watch missed tackle after missed tackle the last two years. Not really sure what the heck has happened to him.

I have the "privilege" of being a Jags fan & watch all the games. Whoever said that Mike Smith used him "right" in his rookie season had it nailed spot on.
Mike Smith was the best thing about The Jags. When he left to coach Atlanta, I knew then that the team was gonna fall fast & they have. Del Rio doesn't know what it takes to make smart game decisions.

Mike Smith's defenses bailed The Jags' offense out & won most of the games for The Jags by keeping the offense in the game so they could try to make a winning play in the 4th quarter.

Reggie doesn't have the proper coaching now in Jacksonville to be an effective pro. He will always be one of my favorite Gators, but honestly, he can not tackle on the next level. He's not the worst ever, but he could be a whole lot better.

If he somehow found his way to Atlanta & played under Mike Smith again, I think he would be put into a position to use his natural ability more often. Or maybe playing under Rex Ryan for The Jets would do him better.
He's a headhunter, a ball hawk, the mayor of 'hit' city. In the NFL, most of the time, you need to do more than just 'hit'.

It's not just Reggie though. Watch any NFL game & you'll see a lot of guys on defense trying to make a Top 10 hit instead of trying to make a form tackle.
