It's amazing to see Percy being so dynamic in the NFL. I still get goosebumps watching him make plays.

I picked up Harvin in my fantasy league. I was scoffed at for picking up "an unproven rookie with injury and character problems" (they're not Gator fans).

They're not scoffing now, and I'm 1st in my league.

Go Harvin! :-D

I drafted Harvin in the 14th round. The other members said "great pick!" & "I was hoping he would fall to me!" - they ARE Gator fans. Laugh

I thought Lame said you need to be in his offense to be a pro? Like Reggie "bust" Bush and third string QB Matt Leinart.

We need to wait and see about the Rookie of the Year deal. He needs to keep humble and playing team ball.

I can see that if he continues not only will he mwin the Rookie award but he will also make the Pro Bowl. He is dynamic in space.

The Vikings are pinching themselves to make sure they are not dreaming.

He has a similar role for the Vikings that he had for UF in 06. He's not the star of the team, but he makes big plays and makes the team better.

People in Minnesota and NFL fans are just now witnessing something that we saw for three years. I'm only 27 so I didn't have the good fortune to see some of the older Gator greats, but to me, Percy had the most natural athletic ability of any Gator that I've seen. Quezzie was up there, but I think Percy edges him out.

I was fortunate to see Wes Chandler play and he's the only player whom I believe can compare with Percy Harvin as a Gator playmaker. Harvin was a game changer in every game he played for the Gators and nearly impossible to defend in his hybrid role. Just think of the kind of stats he would have had here returning kicks?

See, I would have loved to witness Wes playing! Percy returning kicks would have been silly. I'm kind of glad he didn't though only because of the injury factor since he was a staple on our offense. Everyone points to Tim during our '06 NC run, but many forget that Percy was the first frosh every to win SEC Champ. game MVP honors, and he also was awarded the SEC Frosh. of the Year trophy. I am so glad that his game is translating over on the next level. He's a beast!

He was fun to watch yesterday. Urban was in love with "the best first step" he'd ever seen. IMO that acceleration is what makes him so good. He is at full speed within two steps. Most guys take at least five or six to get there.

The difference with Wes Chandler was that Coach Doug Dickey didn't really know how to use him. We had a run-oriented offense in those years. He would have had great numbers under Pell, Hall and unbelievable stats under Spurrier or Meyer.

Percy has been really good so far for the Vikes. I also have him in my Fantasy league. I love watching them this year. The ironic thing is they are just now really figuring out how to use him. If they were focusing more on getting him the ball in space he could easily be leading the league in all purpose yards. They mostly have been throwing to him over the middle, often times leading him right into a violent crash with a charging safety. If they gave a few more screens, and short passes, and a few sweeps and draws he could really dominate a game.

The TD catch yesterday was truely remarkable. Most receivers would have fallen to the ground if they made that catch, but the way he adjusted his balance in mid air and hit the ground running was classic PH we are used to, but others are seeing for the first time and are in simply in awe.

The reality is that Meyer didn't get the most of out of Harvin. Troy Aikman implied this yesterday when he said, "These are routes that Percy just didn't run at the University of Florida." Meyer was asking Harvin to beat D-linemen and linebackers when his natural dominance blossoms in squaring up with D-backs. He's just now becoming the player he's capable of becoming and you will see him continue to grow/flourish over the next 3 years now that he is in an accredited system.

This isn't a solo attack on UF, tho. Coker screwed up with Hester and we only got 1/4 of his potential out of him at The U. It happens, even at the highest rated, most credible NFL factories like The U. Bottom line: coaches need to let players be players.

I do all these things because I am a jealous little punk who has entirely too much time on my hands. The Gators won 2 NC's in 3 years with Harvin. I guess we needed to win it in all three years for you to think we "got the most out of him". Roll Eyes

You are a clown.

I've said the same thing several times too. Without a doubt! It's all good though, Percy's off catching passes from Brett Favre as a rookie so I'm sure things worked themselves out lol.

Not at all. What I'm saying is that UF didn't put him in the most optimal situations to dominate. Was he effective coming out of the backfield, and even somewhat dominant in that role? I think so, but it's not what he is which was a WR. And since his ultimate goal was to get to the NFL as a WR, he didn't develop his route-running skills, etc., as well as he could have. In addition, had he been properly utilized, then he would have likely contended for the Bilitnekoff and Heisman, and his draft stock would have been a lot higher.

Is it working out fine for him? Yes. But playing in the spread cost him several million dollars.

As usual, I couldn't disagree more. His injury history and his pot-smoking cost him several million dollars.

And you damn well know it.

I heard that comment by Aikman, too and thought it was a definite slap at Urban and UF. Of course anything anti Gator is taken as gospel by cocainethink.

If Pecry wasn't prepared for the NFL, how come he is faring so well?

The argument can certainly be made that the spread showcased much more of Percy's talents than a "traditional" offense would have. CaneThing just takes any chance he gets to slam the Gator offense, despite the monster success it's been.

You wouldn't think a guy could argue with multiple NC's, but CaneThing always finds a way. Roll Eyes
