Quezzie was up there, but I think Percy edges him out.

Agreed. In my time watching the gators, I'd rank the following based purely on athletic ability:

1. Percy Harvin
2. Jevon Kearse
3. Jack Jackson
4. Kevin Carter
5. Wilbur Marshall
6. 'Quez Green

There seems to be an echo in your post. You should get that checked out.

"I remember asking Archie Manning to put in perspective what Tim Tebow means to the position and what he means in terms of the history of the game. And Archie, the father of two No. 1 draft choices, two Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks in Peyton and Eli, described how Roger Staubach ran as good as any quarterback he'd ever seen, and how Dan Marino had the quickest release and was so accurate, but Archie said he'd never seen a better football player play the position of quarterback than TimTebow. That says it all."

No problem with your list but I'd put Fred Taylor ahead of Jack Jackson.

I considered Fred, Lito and Ratliff... just, imo, these guys were more gifted. Not to take anything away from any of those guys.

i think it was gator sid that i was arguing with about 8 months ago. i said then and i will say it now: percy harvin is one of the greatest players to play at uf. he mocked me saying that there were a plethora of better players at florida past and present. i think harvin is one of those players that comes along maybe once every 10 years or so and you are lucky as all get out to have him on your team.

it really is a travesty that he did not even get listed as one of the finalist for the heisman and i think it says volumes about the award circuit that he was never mentioned for the heisman in any real context. the kid was an instant first down and supplied a guaranteed td every game he played. that type of production is pretty much unmatched in the last two years of his collegiate career.

others have mentioned it, but i certainly did pick him up on both my fantasy teams. and i feel strangely special that i have him on my teams now. he is an incredible player and i think a shoe in for rookie of the year. hopefully they will find new and better ways to use him and hopefully they will be able to find a decent qb next year cause i think he can make the pro-bowl in year 2 if he keeps this pace.

I've already been on the Percy had been on the boat that the best college player the previous 2 years, that he would be the best NFL wideout of this years draft (I also drafted him in the 10th round of my 12-team league, but we have several Gator-grads in there), and also that we've previously had the discussion in this forum that Harvin did in fact run something close to a full route tree at UF. There is so much misinformation with everything in the media, and its ridiculous that while yes we did run a different sort of spread offense, and Harvin did carry the ball a lot. He still ran the fly route, the post, the corner, the fade, the slant, the in, the out, the comeback, the hook, the bubble screen and others. He also did this from so many different positions on the field. Of course, with the amount of running he did, it limited the amount of routes he ran, but its not like he only ran the screen and fly. And while Percy was by no means polished or a great route runner, he was certainly sufficient (and like most other Junior WR prospects). Also, many like myself have said it on here before, Percy had and has great hands and concentration on the ball. He has been so underrated in that department it is sickening.

Basically some few years ago, some drudging, unoriginal 'sports writers' had to come up with some kind of negative story that every receiver who runs in a spread offense must not run routes properly.

Troy Aikman just regurgitates some ridiculous untruths that he read or was fed by other drudgers.

PH is a one man wrecking crew.....great talent for damn sure. Minnesota is using him tremendously.

Never quit. It is the easiest cop-out in the world. Set a goal and don't quit until you attain it. When you do attain it, set another goal, and don't quit until you reach it. Never quit.

"After college, Chandler was drafted by the New Orleans Saints with the third overall selection in the 1978 NFL Draft. Chandler was selected to the Pro Bowl after his second season in the league after finishing with 1,069 yards and 6 touchdown receptions. He led the NFL in receiving yards (1,032) and receiving touchdowns (9) for the strike-shortened 1982 season. His 129 yards receiving per game that year is still an NFL record [2]. One of his more notable performances was in a 1981 AFC playoff game known as The Epic In Miami, where he caught six passes for 106 yards and returned a punt 56 yards for a touchdown in the Chargers 41-38 victory. He also caught nine passes for 124 yards in a playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the following season."

Checking the Florida record book Chandler still has the highest career yards per catch (21.3) and the highest career TD reception ratio (a TD every 4.18 catches) of any Florida receiver ever. By my personal observations of both careers, Chandler was every bit as elusive as Harvin and had maybe the best hands of any Florida receiver ever. We actually had a decent passing game his soph and junior years, but we had no effective passer his senior year and he was inserted as tailback some of the time.

Number 3 pick in the draft isn't too shabby followed by a pro bowl NFL career.
I remember that 1981 AFC playoff game. It was years before I had even heard of the Gators and I remember being so impressed with Chandler. He was having an amazing performance in the playoffs that year. It wasn't until about 10 years ago that I found out he was a Gator! Wow!

Like several others have posted here, the only other Gator receiver/all-purpose runner I would put in Percy's class is Wes Chandler. He was an amazing athlete and had an incredible ability to make people miss. I'll never forget the run he made for a touchdown against Auburn one year, faking FIVE defenders out of their jocks! It was the first time I had taken my little niece to a Gator game, and it happened right in front of us. His tops-ever career Gator per catch avg. of 21.3 was not due to simply catching a lot of "long bombs". It was a result of his elusiveness and remarkable yac.
