One has to almost pray a hurricane warning is in effect September 6th when Miami is slated to go to Gainesville. This will be the first time in the past six meetings that A) the Canes aren't ranked and B) that the Gators will be the higher ranked team. There was a formula to Miami's six-game win-streak against Florida and that's not the case in 2008. A road game with a freshman QB on one side of the ball and a Heisman winner on the other also doesn't bode well.

The Canes had a similar experience last year getting #4 Oklahoma on the road the second week of the season and we all remember how that played out (L, 51-13). That said, it didn't truly "set the tone" for 2007. The Canes could've absorbed the out of conference loss and moved forward. Wins against Florida or Texas A&M would be great feathers in a young team's cap, but the tone-setter is North Carolina on September 27th.

Ahhhh. Reality finally cracking that once proud fascade. Beautiful isn't it?

This tuneup game is going to be a lot more fun than our normal tuneup games.

I was shocked...I thought they were both going to lose that game.

Agreed, I will actually keep watching when this one gets out of hand.

Don't put it past DaU to pull off some pre-game hi jinx to try and get some UF players ejected.

I disagree. I'm not in any way saying it's a slam dunk that we'll win or even compete, but I don't see how this is that much different than the 04 Peach Bowl against you guys. Most people felt UF was the better team and would finally end the streak since you had just broken through at Doak and Miami was badly struggling on offense. Yet, in typical UM/UF fashion, the Canez "Daded Up" and used stuff like freak special teams plays to score enough points to win. I think we blocked a FG, returned a kick, and maybe even blocked another punt in that one.

Point is, we're still Miami and we can always win just because of that fact. We should in no way be minimizing trips to G'ville and Texas A&M just to protect our confidence going into ACC play. It makes us sound like FAU saying, "let's not worry too much about losing to the big dogs and just focus on winning the Sun Belt." Give me a break.

You cant compare this years game to 04. The game in 04 was when Zook was canned and Strong was the interim HBC first of all. You all also had Devin Hester killing it on the returns. no comparison to this years game. Fact is, Miami is rebuilding this year with a lot of young talent, but will be lucky to win 2 more games than they did last year. And UF is contending for the National Title this year. No camparison to 2004 at all. Im not saying that its a slam dunk for UF either, as showed many times last year, anything can happen. But UF should win this game, and should be very heavily favored.

Eeker

Please don't post here anymore. laugh

Well willy, I'll do it for you... this game will be a slam dunk... a glass-shattering, rim-bending, net-tearing board-crashing slam f'in dunk. PERIOD. Gators by AT LEAST 24.
