The AJC reporter (Tony Barnhart) says in his article "Georgia Coach Mark Richt told the AJC yesterday that Williams should have been flagged on the hit." LINK - is there a transcript of the conference call? In all kinds of weather We'll all stick together for F-L-O-R-I-D-A |

How many fans can fit in the Swamp?
If everyone chips in 50 cents, we can cover the fine and have some beer money left over. I'll be the guy with the coffee can by gate #1. Feel free to donate! |

We're #1!!! We're #1!!! Bet that will shut Mullen up for sure...doubt he can afford fines like that very often. Laney would probably just borrow it from Monte. ![]() |

This whole thing is BS. The other whack job coaches complained about calls that could have determined who won or lost a game. Urban complained legitimately about the safety of his prior concussion QB due to a dirty hit and is slapped $30,000.
So all in one week UF is slandered as a dirty school, our All-American linebacker is perceived as Hannibal Lector and our Head Coach is punished thanks to the other fraud coaches in the SEC and their big mouths. I don’t remember any #1 ranked USC team or Pete Carroll ever taking this much scrutiny and they still have investigations pending. What a hell of a week. I think a contribution to a PayPal account is an excellent idea. Then it can be presented to him at game day. I'm certain we can get 30,000 people to put in $1 each. This would make a statement to the country that the Gator Nation does not agree with the penalty.

I think Urban is a genious!
Although the amount is over the top he has once again proved that he is the ultimate in mind games. He loves his team and will do them right. He has now Gouge Gate to the back burner and moved the focus off his team and onto him. And talking head games. It's been two month since Tennessee and Kiffin still can't shut up about us. So the stage is set Kiffy. You can't shut up but you'll soon have to start puttin' up. Although Urban may have gotten the first fine in the Conference, why not. #1 in SEC, #1 BCS, Maybe he should be #1 in all of it. So bring it Lamey Boy. Lets see how big your kahunas ($$$$$) really are. |

Check out the Vols comments on Toothlessnation
wheres my sister? Winning at Doak used to be like trying to have sex with a virgin. If you were lucky, you might have gotten a sniff. Doak Campbell stadium is now a filthy, disease-infested prostitute, teeming with the stench of other team's victories. |

As cliche as this is, we are still undefeated and in the driver's seat to win another SECC, National Championship, and Heisman trophy. Plus we have Vandy this weekend, thankfully. Things could be a hell of a lot worse... |

Poor Coach Meyer!!! Now if the SEC had the guts they would do another thing that is right....SUSPEND Spikes. They give Meyer a stupid fine for saying something insulting about officials and being negative to the almighty SEC, but they have no rule to suspend a player who blatantly assaults another player with intent to harm. The SEC and Slive are jokes...to say the least. I am still hoping the NCAA steps in and does the right thing...SUSPEND Spikes for the rest of the year!!!!!

Here is the epitome of hypocrisy.... LINK
I sent him the following post: BNAG8R November 6th, 2009 1:39 pm Wait a minute Tony……you specifically stated in a previous blog the Marc Richt told the AJC that “a flag should have been thrown on that play”…didn’t you? By the “letter of the law” – doesn’t that also constitute public criticism of the officials? Are you now going to call for a fine for Richt as well? Let’s see how the hypocrisy police handle this one….. In all kinds of weather We'll all stick together for F-L-O-R-I-D-A |

How about for a consolation prize, you get to watch us win another National Championship? Never heard so many idiots want something that even the "victim" doesn't want. This guy has severe ED written all over him. ______________________ New Addition To Gator Nation...6lb, 6oz Boy! |

Mixed reactions on VileNation.
Most think its stiff penalty and Kiffy is the next to go down. Its a dastardly plan to sabotage UT, OH NO! They have it really bad. |

But in typical fashion, the "rule" that was set up to curb one thing ends up hurting the wrong person who did nothing even remotely close to that. Think about it, Petrino, LK, and Mullen have all blasted the SEC and received warnings. Meyer makes a light comment and gets a 30K fine. Too much history dealing with the NASD/CFTC/SEC and comparable, ridiculous technicalities...the more they interfere, the more flawed it becomes. In essence, Meyer is paying 30K because of mistakes made by officials in the UF/Ark, UF/Msu, and Ala/ut games... ______________________ New Addition To Gator Nation...6lb, 6oz Boy! |

I think Slive is doing this so next time that Duma$$ Lame opens his mouth he can really lay the lumber. There is no question in anyone's mind where all this bickering stems from. You know Slive has to hate Kiffen with a white hot passion with all the negative press he's brought to the league.

Anybody else want to comment to Tony on the pickle he put himself in? He reported that Mark Richt told a reporter it was a bad call, and now says the fine was "justified" - you can add your comments at the link above In all kinds of weather We'll all stick together for F-L-O-R-I-D-A |

Urban Meyer makes $4 million a year. $30K is less than he earns in 1/2 of a quarter of a football game. It's like they gave him a 1/8 game suspension, which is less than Spikes got.

I'm no accountant...but a better way to look at it(considering he doesn't coach games year round) is that Meyer's 4 mil comes out to around 330,000 per month, before taxes, which would net him approx $225,000. So a $30,000 fine would be between 12-15% of his monthly income. If the average guy makes around $6,000 per month, it would be like getting a $800-900 speeding ticket for barely exceeding the limit. Not sure too many people, regardless of their income bracket, would be ok with that. ______________________ New Addition To Gator Nation...6lb, 6oz Boy! |

I don't think it bites him too badly financially. I was thinking about comparing it to a more typical salary, say $50k, and it would be like $400-500 (I was working off $3.5 million for Meyer - fix the numbers yourself if you're that anal and consider a career in engineering.) But folks in the $3.5 million aren't organizing budgets like common folk. He probably doesn't even have a mortgage. His family may spend twice on groceries what a typical family might, eat out more, etc. but as a percentage of his income it is probably negligible whereas for most of us it is a huge part of our planning. $30k won't affect their entertainment, vacation or retirement plans. 'nuff said. It bites because it is the first actual fine and in large part a response to what Mullen and Kiffin said earlier. The silver lining is that the precedent has been set. Were Kiffin to say today what he said a couple of weeks ago, scoffing at the reprimand, he would likely get suspended a game. Maybe Slive has put a cork in all of them, maybe we'll see Eddie Haskell get his just deserts WHEN he pops off again. Remember what Al Davis said. Even though it was Al Davis, Kiffin was publicly branded a liar and his character was trashed. Nu'keese may be starting to understand that now and wondering why he didn't see the opportunity to play early at UF. I hope recruits, and/or their parents and coaches, have eyes to see...
